Haneef, one of the lawyers in Abbots Chambers focusing on criminal litigation. He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Haneef is currently holding two degrees: The Degree of Jurisprudence (Juris Doctor) with Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major in International Relations and History). Haneef has been recently called to the bar in Singapore and is current one of our lawyers.
Throughout his training, Haneef had assisted in a wide range of areas which includes commercial, civil and particularly shipping matters. His training is inn both wet and dry shipping disputes, such as charter-party disputes, mis-delivery of cargo and ship collisions.
During his time at university, Haneef was deeply involved in legal aid and pro bono work. Haneef worked as a paralegal in the Crime Department of a Legal Aid Bureau in Sydney, where he assisted the legal aid lawyers in various levels of the New South Wales courts, including the New South Wales Supreme Court, the Downing Centre Local Court and the Surry Hills’ Children’s Court. Haneef’s role also included being the first port of call for clients, where he took instructions from clients during client calls or client visitation, and he also assisted in the preparation of appeal and bail applications.
Haneef completed his National Service with the Singapore Civil Defense Force as a Section Commander at Tampines Fire Station. Recently, one of the cases that he was handling has been recently publicized in the Today’s newspaper.
